Research Panel “Corporate Governance and Accounting Research in China and Asia”

A panel discussion titled “Corporate Governance and Accounting Research in Asia and China “was co-organized with the Chinese Accounting Professor Association of North America (CAPANA) on August 9, 2005 during the American Accounting Association Annual Meeting. The four panelists were: Professor Robert Bushman from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Professor Joseph Fan, deputy director of the center, Professor T.J. Wong, director of the center, and Professor Zhang Weiguo, Chief Accountant of the China Securities Regulatory Commission. The panel discussion focuses on the opportunities in doing corporate governance research in an international setting. China and Asia offer unique institutional setting for governance and accounting research. Professor Zhang Weiguo offered some suggestions for future research that would assist policy setting and regulations in China.
