CUHK BA Faculty Launches CIG “Rega Financial Research Project” Kick-off Ceremony

The Center for Institutions and Governance (CIG) of Faculty of Business Administration (BA Faculty) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Rega Technologies Limited (Rega), a financial research company based in Hong Kong, have collaborated on a research project named “Rega Financial Research Project” to develop investment strategies for the financial market in mainland China.
Prof. T.J. WONG, Dean of BA Faculty and Director of CIG at CUHK, and Dr. Jie ZHANG, Managing Director of Rega Technologies Limited, officiated at the ceremony on June 22, 2011. Dr. ZHANG stressed that the biggest challenge currently faced by Rega, is the unfamiliarity with the China A-share index and the stagnant market. He believes that high-quality research and new hedging tools can help financial institutions to identify market anomalies and capture the business opportunities in mainland China’s financial market. Rega hence donates a total of HK$3 million to CIG and hence becomes the first financial research company in Hong Kong that provides funding to a local business school to launch financial research projects.
BA Faculty presented the Rega Financial Research Fellowships to nine professors and researchers at the Ceremony to facilitate their academic research on financial markets. Prof. T.J. WONG expressed his gratitude to Rega for its generous donation that enhances and fosters research.
At the ceremony, Dr. Fung YIM, Vice Chairman and CEO of Guotai Junan International Holdings Limited, and Prof. Oliver RUI, Deputy Director of CIG at CUHK, shared their insights of the securities market in Hong Kong and investment strategies in emerging markets in two lectures at the Ceremony.
