Office 365 for CUHK Business School

The “Office 365 for CUHK Business School – Undergraduates” Sharepoint site is an online portal for our communication with current students. The service portal connects students to their your email, calendar, file-sharing and the exclusive business student site which contains current information and updates of career-related workshops, job openings, scholarships, outside-the-classroom activities, talks, guest lectures, and such. These tools are available to all business students.

Application Procedures for Internship and Graduate Placement for Undergraduates

Step 1 - Job Search
There are several types of jobs available for our students as below.

Summer Intern(June to August)
Most of the summer internship opportunities are usually open for registration starting from March every year. Summer term:

Full-time Semester Intern (Fall term: September to December; Spring term: January to May)
Full-time internship is usually open for recruitment a few months before the terms start.

Part-time Semester Intern:
Part-time internship opportunities would be available throughout the year. Students can take up internship on a part-time basis during the academic year, with less than 18 hours per week.

Graduate Placement:
Graduate recruitment usually kicks start as early as in September for intake of preceding year.

Available openings suitable for business undergraduates would be posted on the job list on Office 365. More opportunities can also be found in the University Career Center’s job board or some other recruitment websites (Useful Links)

Step 2 - Application
Once you have identified a job opportunity that suits your background and interests, apply according to the instructions stated in the job posts. Some positions may need the School's nomination while you can apply the rest directly to the recruiter.

Step 3 - Undergraduate Office (NGO) Nomination
UGO nominates students based on the requirements set out by employers. Usually,it comes down to:
• Your cumulative GPA;
• Your major(s) or concentration(s);
• Any relevant working experience;and
• Your extra-curricular activities (e.g. Exchange,Scholarship,Case Competitions, etc.)
Notification e-mail will be sent to those who are nominated for the position normally within two weeks of the application deadline.

Step 4 - Shortlisting for Interview
Employers will review our nominations and decide which students would be short listed further for interview. They will inform students ofthe interview arrangement either by phone or by e-mail. Make sure you jot down all the details and be there on time.
If you are not attending to the interview for a valid reason,inform the contact person of the company and apologize for the absence. Fail to do so may cost you more than just an interview opportunity,but your future career in that company or in the industry.

Step 5 - Offer received
Congratulations! You make it and receive an offer from the company. Make sure you read through the fine prints of the contract and understand the terms and conditions. Sign a duplicate and keep a copy for future reference.

Students receiving full-time internship offer need to suspend the studies with the University. Please refer to the "Guidelines on Suspension of Studies" for the detailed procedures and apply accordingly.

E-Learning Platform (Soft Skills Mentor)

“Soft Skills Mentor” is an e-Learning platform that aims at complementing the business knowledge acquired by undergraduate business students in the classroom and further equip them with the necessary soft skills in various areas, including problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills. This will prepare students to better meet the needs of any volatile and highly competitive business environment.

Career Library

The Career Library provides a series of books on Psychometric Test Questions, Assessment Centers Tricks, Case Interview Preparation, Career Path Advice, Job Hunting Tips etc. to equip students with the necessary career skills.

How to borrow
With a student ID card, students can borrow at the Undergraduate Office (Room 408, Cheng Yu Tung Building) during office hours:

Monday to Thursday

8:45 am to 1:00 pm; 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Friday

8:45 am to 1:00 pm; 2:00 pm to 5:45 pm

Saturday & Sunday & Public Holidays

Loan quota and period

Each student is eligible to borrow one item each time. The book has to be returned within 14 days.
For example, if the item is checked out on March 18, 2016, it has to be returned by April 1, 2016.

Renewal, Overdue and Lost
• On loan materials cannot be renewed.
• Books that have not been returned by due dates are treated as "lost" and notices are issued for the student by the CUHK email.
• For “lost” items, replacement books have to be purchased by the student and brought to the office; however, the purchased book must be the same edition as the one that was lost.
• Students may therefore want to provide detailed information to staff about the edition they intend to purchase before actually doing so.
• Library borrowing privileges are suspended for accounts that have books overdue. Your name will be put on record for future reference, e.g. seminars, exchange studies, job/internship and competition nomination/application.
